Product: Numark Mixtrack Pro
Before I get into the actual fixes for my Numark Mixtrack Pro, I’d like to give some history. I bought my Mixtrack Pro from an online site in the U.S. (I’m in Canada ). I had the hardest time getting my problems resolved because of this even though I was within the warranty period. The agents at Numark pretty much would not answer my emails or return my telephone calls. When I did manage to speak to someone, they said they couldn’t help me because I was in Canada and bought it from the U.S. So I was left with one solution, fixing it myself. Sucks I know...
Troubleshooting Note:
Before you decide to disassemble your device, test it with a different software (i.e. Traktor, Serato DJ Intro, Virtual DJ) or computer (desktop, laptop, pc or mac). The issue may be the software or the mappings of different applications. If the issue does not change then move on.

DISCLAIMER:
This repair is done at your own risk and more than likely will void your warranty, I suggest that you get in touch with Numark and have a service technician find a solution for you. If that’s not an option you may use this tutorial as a guideline to fix it yourself. I am not responsible for what you do to your unit as a result of this tutorial. THIS IS JUST FOR SHOW OF WHAT I DID.
This is a relatively easy fix but does require you to solder wires. Please find below the tools I used to make this repair. Please also exercise patience with this repair.
Tools
Phillips screwdriver
Soldering gun/iron (and solder)
Thin strip of wood or plastic
Hot glue gun (optional)
Flat Plastic Washer (other solution below)

Problems with Mixtrack Pro
1. Right Jog Wheel Platter
While using this right jog wheel I noticed inconsistencies when scratching. At some points of rotation it would feel very sticky (too much friction) and it would some time just not spin.
2. Cross Fader Audio Leak
When moving the cross fader to the left deck (Deck A) you would still hear the audio from the right deck (Deck B)
Disassembly
Disconnect USB and audio cables then remove screws from the back of the unit, make sure not to lose any.
On the top side of the unit remove all slider knobs (not buttons) EXCEPT the BROWSE knob. The BROWSE knob can only be removed from inside the unit, when the motherboard is removed.
Turn the unit over and remove the back cover. At this point a wire and a data cable will be attached. You will need to remove both.
I recommend removing the wire first (from the top side, I found this to be easier), this will give you more room to work. The data cable had been glued (I don’t know why) remove the glue and pull the cable off.

Use the solder gun to remove the jog wheel connecting wire from the circuit’s side on both wheels.
The circuit board consists of three different pieces. If you want to fix the right jog wheel or any of the channel faders, volume slider, cross fader or Deck B pitch, the biggest of the three boards should be removed.
Note the arrows on the mother board. These are indications where you replace screws before you put on the back cover after the repair. Be careful and remember to ground yourself (or touch with your bare hand) to a screw with an arrow indication just to remove and static charge you may have developed.
Remove the circuit board and turn it over.
1. Right Jog Wheel Platter

If possible get a flat plastic washer to fit. I didn’t so I had to cut a piece of a soda bottle to shape then burn a hole to fit. In my instance it seemed as if the jog wheel rested too low. So the washer pushed it higher so it could rotate seamlessly. Reconnect the clip, hook up the device again and see if it works. At times you might need to restart the software to make sure that everything works fine. (Don’t worry about re-soldering the jog wheel wire, it activates the scratch portion of the wheel. Move the wheel if it still pitch bends its fine.)
2. Cross Fader Audio Leak
If your audio is leaking on one side stick a piece of plastic or wood under the side of the cross fader where the leak is noticed. Just enough to push the circuit board under the fader up just a bit. You don’t want to use a big piece that will damage the circuit or the fader. Use just a small piece, reconnect all the cables hook up your software and see if it’s working as it should. Repeat this step to figure it out.
- Check when nothing is screwed in.
- Check when you replace screws, the circuit board, then re-soldered the wires.
- Check again before you put the back cover on. Replace glued item if possible.
- CHECK ALL THE FUNCTIONS OF THE UNIT.

ReplyDeleteHello , i have a big problem , when i move the crossfader , on my virtual dj pro 7 ,the volume and the pitch moves , the volume doesn`t go just to %0 or %100 volume , it moves between a %10 and an %80 ... i don't know why ... my e-mail is ramirog90@gmail.com , i am argentinian so i don`t speak a lot of english i hope you've understood me . See you thanks .
DeleteHello My problem is this, when I move the crossfader on virtual dj pro 7 I also move the pitch and volume, it will not let me upload the voluimen the maximum with the controller, the program appears to be left between% 10 80% volume and nothing else, and the pitch is fired, thank you very much.

DeleteHey dude this is awesome. My problem is that the volume control for the left deck(A GAIN) feels really lose compared to the other faders and the volume stays in the middle on my software. I cant put it up or down.
ReplyDeleteRe: Hector
DeleteIt seems that where the fader connects to the board is not making a connection. Did you open your device?
I have the same problem as Hector but on deck B. It doesnt react. Only when i pull the fader on A side.. can you help me? Thanks
Deletemy right gain volume on is not working at all the master volume fader is what controlls my right jog wheel volume how can i rectify this problem
DeleteHey FOR some reason my Jog wheels dont work, i cant scratch !!!!!!!!!! help please
ReplyDeleteRe: Jog Wheel Scratch
DeleteIf your jog wheels dont work at all. Try a different software. Traktor Serato Dj Intro Virtual Dj all other option
dont forget that there is a scratch botton you should make sure that its on
DeleteMY VOLUME CONTROL ON THE RIGHT DECK WOULD LOWER THE VOLUME AND STICK THERE
ReplyDeleteRe: Volume Fader
DeleteJust as my post above try a different software first to ensure its a hardware issue. I dont see a reason why the deck volume should lower the output volume unless the midi mappings are not configured properly.
hello my problem is that the sound card I need a new complete spoiling for MIXTRACK pro that I can install it card to connect via USB
ReplyDeletehello my problem is that the sound card I need a new complete spoiling for MIXTRACK pro that I can install it card to connect via USB
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI took apart my mixtrack yesterday, and I recognized a relly interesting fact. I have the simple mixtrack, not the pro version with the soundcard, but the to PCB is really similar, i haven't found any missing part, what is not soldered in. So i think the only difference is that I haven't the connector next to the right jog wheel (upside-down the left on the picture) sodlered in, and connected. So I just want to ask that how your computer senses te mixtrack? As a soundcard? How can you set it as soundcard in traktor? If the mixtrack's software is the same too, I just need to solder in the audio part :D
i'm looking at doing some personalizing touches - a fresh paint job and maybe some additional LED's... few questions i'm hopin you can help me with...
ReplyDelete1) do the circuit boards come away from the case with relative ease?
2) are the buttons sliders etc connected to each other or seperate pieces?

ReplyDeleteGoldeneye, Big up on the fix!! You just saved me from buying a new unit..
ReplyDeleteMy left pitch control doesnt match up on the controller with the Virtual DJ program. What to do!?!?
ReplyDeleteHi Goldeneye the FX control knob has been knocked off from the top right hand set of buttons on my Mixtrack. (the knob above the reloop button)
ReplyDeleteI've had a close look at the knob and it doesnt look like any of the plastic or the fixing is broken but I cant seem to push it back in and don't want to press to hard in case it breaks. Or maybe it screws in?
Or do I just line up the fixings and put a bit of glue on to hold it in place? Any help would be grately apreciated.
Regards
Keith
Good tips! Have a question though, my right deck cuts out/right down every so often and not for that long. I baought it second hand and was warned of a potential problem with right hand volume. Is this likely to be the right volume fader or the crossfader?
ReplyDeleteI have the exact problem i tought it was mapping but i used another 2 softwares and was the same
ReplyDeleteHey man, i'm having issues with my left pitch slider. I use Traktor Pro and Mixtrack Pro. I connect the Mixtrack, everything's fine, then i open Traktor and the left pitch on Traktor keeps going up and down really fast without me touching the slider on the Mixtrack! I don't know what could cause that. Can you please help me? Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to completely take the jog wheel off? It's stiff and I can't see why.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Since your post is 2 years old i'm not sure if you will answer but i will still try, i recently bought a MTP2 and the right side jog wheel don't seems to work well... it doesn't answer all the time if i scratch with it, it lag pretty much. I bought it on ebay and it won't be a nice deal to pay return shipping then shipping to get a new one so i ended up here while googleing. I tried 2 software VDJ and serato and I got the same result. I scratch with the right jog wheel and it just don't answer as it would do normaly, feels like a lag or anything like this... Have you any idea? Thanks
